Summer Music Camp Directors
Dr. Rodney Dorsey, comes to SOMD from a position as the associate director of bands at the University of Michigan. Dorsey will be taking on the director of bands, conducting, and conductor of the UO Wind Ensemble starting Fall of 2013. Prior to this appointment at UM, Dorsey served on the faculties of DePaul and Northwestern Universities. Dorsey studied conducting with Dr. James Croft, Mr. John P. Paynter, and Dr. Mallory Thompson. He was a clarinet student of Mr. Fred Ormand and Dr. Frank Kowalsky. He gained extensive experience teaching in the public schools of Florida and Georgia.
Dorsey holds a number of professional memberships that include the College Band Directors National Association, Music Educators National Conference, Illinois Music Educators Association, Kappa Kappa Psi, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. Dorsey is also a member of the Midwest Clinic Board of Directors.
Dr. David Jacobs is the Director of Orchestral Studies at the University of Oregon where he conducts the symphony orchestra and teaches courses in conducting. Prior to that appointment, he was the Music Director of the PBA Symphony at Palm Beach Atlantic University, where he brought that orchestra to a heightened level of notoriety throughout the South Florida classical community. Dr. Jacobs has also given performances with several other well-respected university programs, such as Duquesne University, the Cole Conservatory at CSU-Long Beach, Florida State University, and has been invited back to Eastman as a guest artist in residence for three weeks in 2015. In addition to his work with academic orchestras, Dr. Jacobs has also guest conducted performances with several professional orchestras here and abroad, including, the Oregon Music Festival Orchestra, Cabrillo Festival Orchestra, Palm Beach Symphony, and the St. Petersburg (Russia) State Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Eric Wiltshire, Director of Athletic Bands, Assistant Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music Education, received his Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 2006, and an MA in Music from Washington State University, Pullman, in 1994.
Before coming to UO, he was assistant professor of music at the University of Dayton (Ohio), where he was director of the “Pride of Dayton” Marching Band, among others, and taught courses in marching band pedagogy, instrumental conducting, arranging, literature and resources, and low brass pedagogy.
Paul Krueger teaches trumpet, Jazz History, Advanced Jazz Arranging, Jazz Pedagogy, and small jazz groups at the University of Oregon. He is also an adjunct instructor at Willamette University where he teaches applied trumpet lessons, and a highly sought-after clinician/presenter at universities, high schools, festivals, and music camps around the country.
Krueger’s compositions and arrangements have been featured by university jazz ensembles around the country, and have been performed by artists such as Dave Pietro, Steve Wilson, and Dan Tepfer. In May 2012, Krueger’s arrangement of Steve Wilson’s “Wish You Were Here” received a Downbeat Magazine Student Music Award for Best Jazz Arrangement, and Krueger has been named one of ASCAP’s Young Jazz Composer Award recipients for original compositions in 2012, 2013, and 2014.
A native of Lincoln, NE, Krueger earned his Bachelors Degree in Music Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May 2009, and his Masters Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Oregon in June 2011. Click HERE for full bio.

Marching & Leadership Camp
Devin Bretz is a member of the percussion staff at the Oregon Marching Band specializing in Batterie Percussion. Devin joined the OMB as a member in 1995, and was a field technician in 2000 and 2001. After teaching Marching percussion at several High Schools in the northwest, he returned to Eugene in 2013 to rejoin the percussion staff. He currently teaches at the Summer Marching and Leadership Camp and is the Director of Marching Percussion at Willamette High School in Eugene, Oregon.

Summer Music Camp Administration
Anna Frazer is the Administrative Coordinator of Athletic Bands. She oversees logistics for Oregon Athletic Bands and arranges lodging, transportation and scheduling. She supervises the band office student staff, maintains bookkeeping records, and coordinates the Summer Music Camps at the University of Oregon. Frazer also oversees the website, social media and historical archiving.
Before working for Athletic Bands, Frazer was a four-year member of the Oregon Marching Band. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree at the UO School of Music and Dance in Music Education.
